Los Angeles, CA – On Tuesday, August 22nd, California gubernatorial candidate John Chiang will continue his year-long campaign in the San Fernando Valley and will be endorsed by United States Congressman Brad Sherman (D-Sherman Oaks) and Los Angeles City Councilman Bob Blumenfield.
Chiang will also be having a conversation with local activists at Art’s Deli (Studio City) relating to the current political, racial, and cultural tension in the United States.
Chiang’s road trip is inspired by the California road sign shaped like the shovels that the forty-niners brought to California with the mission to unearth a better future for their families. They came from every corner of the earth – to discover the California Dream, one that was built on the foundation of this unique experiment.
On the morning of Tuesday, August 22nd, at 11:25AM, Chiang will ride the Metro Orange Line and
discuss public transit issues with a local member of the community to the Red Line stop. Then he will sit down at Art’s Deli in Studio City with a group of local activists to have a discussion about the racial tension and violence that has recently taken over the nation. To conclude the day, Chiang will meet Congressman Brad Sherman and Councilmember Bob Blumenfield at Balboa Park in Van Nuys,
California where they will endorse John Chiang for governor.
John Chiang is a man of principle and integrity. His proven track record of accountability and
transparency, paired with his financial expertise qualifies his candidacy for governor,” said Rep. Brad
Sherman. “Treasurer Chiang will also best represent California’s values in Sacramento.”
“I’ve known John and his family for more than 25 years and I have seen his effective leadership
firsthand- I know that he will take California to new heights,” stated Councilmember Blumenfield. “John
has the proven track record of turning ideas into action and I am proud to stand together with
Congressman Sherman in support of John Chiang for governor.”
“During a time when racial tensions are so high, it is our job as leaders to bring our communities
together,” Chiang said. “When communities in Sherman Oaks and the San Fernando Valley are looking
for leadership, they look at Congressman Sherman and Councilmember Blumenfield for guidance. It is
my greatest honor to have the support of these two great leaders.”
Since kicking off his year long road trip on June 6, Chiang has made stops in Boyle Heights, San
Francisco, Lake Tahoe, Orange County, Santa Barbara, San Diego, Fresno, Bakersfield, Oakland,
Berkeley, Alameda and Silicon Valley.
